Bantwal: Two arrested for trying to impersonate absentees during voting

Bantwal, May 13: Polling booth officers here on Saturday May 12 caught two persons allegedly attempting to cast votes by impersonating others.

The incident occurred in booth number 59 of Agrar church aided higher primary school on the evening of Saturday, May 12.

At around 5.30 pm, Josun Changa (20), a resident of Gompura in the district of Shantinagar of the state of Assam and Ajay Lakra (26), also a resident of Assam went to the said polling booth and tried to vote in the name of two people, who are residents of Agrar but currently working abroad.

During the verification process, it came to light that both tried to vote in the name of other people and they were handed over to Bantwal police.
