Puttur: Lecturer of college accused of hitting student

Puttur, Sep 12: It is said that a lecturer of a college here assaulted a student on Tuesday September 11.

The student who was beaten up has been identified as Muhammed Mansoor (18), son of Muhammed Shariff from Kodaje, Netlamudnoor village in Bantwal taluk. He has got himself admitted into a private hospital here for treatment. He happens to be a second year diploma student of Vivekananda Polytechnic college here.

Lecturer of the college, Shivaprasad, had asked the students a week back to write down answers twice for the questions found in the first internal examination held recently, reports say. On Tuesday, the said lecturer came to the class and sought confirmation from students for having completed this task. Mansoor said that he had not done his homework. "Angry at my failure, the lecturer hit me in my temple and part of the head with his hand. After the period, I felt dizziness, fell down, and reached the state of unconsciousness. The students and a teacher took me to hospital and got me admitted there," Mansoor said in his complaint.

A case in this regard has been registered in the town police station here.
